a bunch of dead beats

hello, did i mention that in a mutually beneficial synergy with research sound recordings, pehr has released the electro group single “dead beats” on itunes? two wonderful tracks, hopefully followed by some more wonderful tracks in 2012. i haven’t seen electro group live since they opened for sleater-kinney in san francisco way back when. but we always used to mini-tour with them. i am now an uncle to a certain drummer’s son…

timonium shoegazes again

timonium is playing club violaine again on saturday, june 19th. this time there will be only original songs, no covers. we were tired of the meeting places always teasing us when we saw them out on the town. they would say things like “so are you guys a covers band, now? play freebird.” so to avenge this practice of hazing, we are playing timonium songs only. we will be dusting off a few songs that may be a decade old in order to gather up some of our more gazin’ type numbers.

we are playing with silver screen, who are on my friend dan’s clairelabel, and tigers can bite you. we are playing in the middle, i’m guessing a little before 11…

i love this club. $5. upstairs at roberto’s in chinatown, near philippe’s — where we may eat beforehand.

global warmdroning

marc from unrecognizable now has just released an album on luxus arctica. it’s called arctic/antarctic (no relation to the label name i don’t think), and you must download it now for free from the luxxblog.

if you are wondering—yes, it sounds totally awesome, we are listening to it right now.

Jubilee Twist

summer festival time is starting, and timonium is playing the silverlake jubilee, an excellent replacement for sunset junction that is closer in spirit to the eagle rock music festival. tm will play a little after 1pm on the santa monica stage, sharing it with  radar brothers, division day (both of whom we went camping with), foreign born, and the youngsters of moses campbell.

you may recognize the drummer who will be playing with us.

another funny thing is that james (gtrs) is in seattle right now, and tim (keys) is in san jose. but everybody is coming back for this special event: our first time playing all together outdoors.

1995

back to the future: here’s a demo mix, pre-vocals, from 1995. we started mixing for a day in january 2008, and then we haven’t done anything since. if we finish those two albums we’re working on, hopefully we can get back to this…

timonium plays pale saints

come on down to downtown this saturday, march 20th, to the second level sports bar robertos for club violaine. timonium is playing there for the second time in 5 years. last time we played an all slowdive set, and now we are playing an all pale saints set. no new drummer yet-though there are some possibilities in the works-so we might be playing with electronic beats instead. we are picking a weird set, this is not all their hits. there will be a few of their hits so that you won’t feel ripped off, and then some ultra obscure songs (available on flexidisc only, hint hint), and some feel-bad songs, too. john from current 93 will be playing cello with us for the song “shell,” i am super jazzed about that.

we are playing second, sometime between 10 and 11. see you there.
